Hi
I think it is bad to assume a moral line that can tell us what is good and what is bad. It is even worst if one thinks they don't have to have a moral compass. Their own self will tell them what to do.
In the end, freedom means being the second one. To be someone who can justify anything they do to themselves. To be in no conflict with the self.
Someone who borrows their moral compass from their culture or religion will have an exaggerated sense of doing the right things. The reason for it is they think they are following the right rules all the time and at the moment of making the decision, they have the right to break the law once in a while. This feeling of belonging to the right side shadows the reality of life which is gray most of the time and gives the person a feeling of self-righteousness.
I think the optimal path to developing our own morality is by shaping it like the way a sculpture carves a block of marble into a statue. Each hit of the hammer can make significant damage to the stone and every action must be precise with a long-term plan. Not all actions are equal and some might be gross and some detail. They all have to converge into a single statue at the end.
I think developing the mindset is exactly like that. To develop it fully, the person must feel nothing is allowed to do unless it is justified by the long-term plan. There is no right and wrong and there is no complete freedom. Complete freedom in the world of human beings will lead to chaos. That is why in the current time we deserve suppressing governments to keep societies in control. The lack of a long-term plan for the human species to develop into humankind makes us prisoners of our lives. We need to figure out what we really want and what is our goal in the span of the next couple of thousand years and work on it to be able to become truly free.
In my mind submission to the way of life, the way evolution brings a species to the acting scenery of earth to sing their song and give birth to the next species to dominate them is the key.
We need to bite the hardest bullet which is trusting the next type of beings that want to replace us the way we took the action from animals, plants, and other species to not treat us too badly and let us say goodbye and experience the maturity and retirement of our species and finally at some point, say goodbye to the scenery of creation.
It might be silicon-based beings or genetically modified beings that work upon the old structure of DNA. Their minds will be more capable and their bodies will be more durable and we will feel weak in comparison to them. They will explore space and time and they also will be parents for what is going to form after them which is inconceivable to our minds. The way a bacteria cannot think of how a spaceship gives us the possibility to travel to the next planet and take pictures.
