Economy in a sense is the blood flow of human societies. It connects us to the furthest people with whom we have not had the chance to get in touch. It is the crystallization of the idea of the atmosphere we all breathe and share. The best representation of what the universal flow of the energy would be if the world was only revolving around humans and their actions. With this species's domination, this is close from what it is.
Economy does not involve the trees and animals. The insects have nothing to say about it. It is a construct made at the top of what is below humans. A constraint to put humans in debt and pull them for their hours to be oriented towards achieving a higher goal.
It is able to draw boundaries between countries and distinguish them for what they believe is valuable. Time and effort which are aligned with the common goal are going to be more valuable and encouraged.
It simplifies the human-to-human interaction because it is the unit of freedom in a preconstraint social space that values freedom. One provides and one demands a good and in return, gives the provider a valuable item which they can resolve what they need with it.
Its abstraction comes with the side effects of being able to become meta and mental. One person may accumulate the units of value far more than what is meaningful for them to spend in a lifetime. Or it can grow and scale up or lose value due to the flexibility of its worth. Constructs can be made at the top of this concept to fight against the odds of seemingly random events of life. Insurance, Banks, Investments, etc.
It is a response to the paradoxical effort of quantifying what is mostly qualitative in an effort to rationalize the human experience. Time is a rare quantitative parameter that is involved in price tagging effort and goods but alongside it, many other factors are involved. Some can be projected into a spectra of measurement and many are not countable.
Another side effect of this disconnect from the physical and sensational world is how it can replace the need for authentic registration of value for an individual. The path of least resistance implies that if a simpler measure is easier to address than a complex measure. The simpler measure can be a number and the complex measure can involve historical analysis, artistic and personal interpretation, the weight of the invisible chain of steps taken to bring the product to the surface, and other factors.
